Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the preparation of real estate loan, purchase, sale, ancillary related transaction documents including purchase and sale agreements, conveyance documents, easements, subordination agreements, estoppel certificates, security instruments, notes, guaranties and general agreements;
  • Preparing for and supporting commercial real estate related closings including obtaining required documents, preparing documents to be executed and confirming contents of appropriate closing checklists;
  • Perfecting and recording formalities and requirements associated with real estate related matters across all 50 states;
  • Interfacing with various internal departments - capital markets, closing, asset management and accounting on assigned matters;
  • Regular external communications with escrow and title officers, sellers (and their representatives), tenants, and other third parties.
  • Working on special assignments that may require conducting routine fact or legal research, preparing reports and handling associated filings;
  • Other duties and special projects as may be assigned to fully meet the requirements and support the initiatives of General Counsel and the Legal Department.

 

 

Experience and Skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Associates degree and Paralegal certificate.
  • 5 - 9 years of commercial real estate experience, preferably in a law firm setting, an in-house legal department or commercial title company.
  • Extensive experience in commercial real estate closings, title review, loan documentation, and preparation of local jurisdiction closing forms
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Ability to recognize potential issues within a transaction and to provide solutions
  • Effective interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, professional staff and peers.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
